Membership application is available to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who meet the following requirements:
Essay Instructions: An essay must be uploaded to your application (PDF or Google Doc) as an opportunity to illustrate skill and mastery in the English language. Grammar, mechanics, essay structure, and usage of MLA format should demonstrate your exemplary skills. The essay should be 1000 words or less. Essays will be read and evaluated by the NEHS Faculty Advisory Committee.
Essay Prompt: How have you shared your super power with others? Reflect on a time that you used your English skills to benefit someone else. Be sure to include details about what you did, the impact that it had on the person/people involved, and how you felt about your contributions.
- Completion of two High School English courses (can be a mixture of core and elective classes)
- Weighted GPA of 4.0 or higher
- Weighted English GPA of 4.0 or higher
- Submission of a completed application, including a well written essay (prompt below)
- Submission of two teacher recommendations (one must be from an English teacher). Give your teacher this link: https://forms.gle/i3cizvKGMLBbPD6X6 (Teachers must be signed into Wake Portal in order to complete the form. All teacher recommendations will be verified.)
- All applications, essays, and recommendations must be submitted by September 30th at 2:30 PM.
